.thirty-one days of minimalism: media, pt three.

It's no secret that I adore magazines.

And magazines are my favorite form of media for a minimalistic lifestyle.

First off, they are flat out fun to look at! And there is a magazine for any interest. I am a huge fan of Real Simple and Martha Stewart Living, and my husband is reading Auto Week and Car & Driver (opposite ends of the spectrum there!)

And then there is the minimalist aspect of things. They are a wonderful thing to read and then get rid of. You can recycle them, share them with a friend, start a fire, leave them in a waiting room, or donate them to Goodwill!

To inspire you and to celebrate making it this far in our thirty-one day challenge, I have a GIVEAWAY!

One reader will win a selection of my favorite magazines!

To enter, just leave a comment and tell me what your favorite magazine is!

Winner will be chosen and announced on Wednesday, so be sure to check back then!

  3. I hardly ever buy magazines but I love them too! I always grab one when I am getting my hair or nails done. I love the ones about home or beauty! Great post!

  4. I love magazines, too, and there so many interesting ones here in the UK! Wish I had more time to read them... My favourite magazines are all about culture - I love reading books and films reviews! :)

  5. I love Real Simple and Martha Stewart Living too! I love that you shared how you can recycle them. I have an entire stack of Real Simple Magazines hanging out in my hallway closet!

  6. I love this... visiting from our 31Dayers fb group! I don't get many magazines anymore as I have piles and stacks of books and never seemed to get to read the magazines, but I love Relevant, and Folk, and BH&G!

  7. I'm in the middle of decluttering... so please don't include me in the giveaway (I'm doing a batch to Goodwill and recycling myself this week). But I agree - there's something cozy and wonderful about the simplicity of a magazine. (my favorites, though, are Smithsonian, National Geographic, and Just Cross Stitch).

    Happy blogging!

  8. Right now, the only magazine subscription our family has is to Zoobies. So that's my favorite right now! On a recent vacation, I came across an old edition of country woman from the early 90s. That was highly entertaining!

    1. We get Zoobies, too, Steph! haha! I forgot about that one. I don't read it that often. ;-)

  9. Real Simple is probably my favorite too. Right now I receive Lucky and Glamour, I somehow get them for free. Unfortunately they spend most of their time in the plastic cover they came in since I don't have time to sit around reading about fashion. Not that I wouldn't love to.

  10. I like Kiwi. It's a great alternative to other mainstream parenting magazines.
