'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus

"’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,

Just to take Him at His word;

Just to rest upon His promise;

Just to know, Thus saith the Lord."

While researching this hymn, I discovered that this hymn was written out of tragedy reflecting the hope of Christ. Louisa watched her husband drown while trying to save a little boy who had fallen in a river. She wrote this hymn to share the hope she had in Christ. Later, she became a missionary to South Africa with her daughter.

     As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you.

     If it does, you will also remain in the Son and in the Father.

     And this is what He promised us - eternal life.

     1 John 2:24-25
